Azerbaijani club files appeal with CAS against AFFA disciplinary decision

Imishli football club has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland against a decision taken by the AFFA Disciplinary Committee.

According to Idman.Biz, citing prosport.az, this is the first precedent in the history of Azerbaijani football in which a club has appealed an AFFA decision to CAS.

At present, the case at CAS is being handled by a lawyer representing RDC Group, the main sponsor of Imishli.

It should be recalled that the AFFA Disciplinary Committee annulled Imishli’s 1:0 victory over Sumgayit in the fourth round of the Misli Premier League. The match was played on September 13 at the stadium of the Quba Olympic Sports Complex. As a result, Imishli were handed a 0:3 technical defeat and fined 5,000 manats. The reason cited was the participation of Ibrahim Aliyev, who was not listed on the official match protocol, after he entered the field in the 67th minute.

Subsequently, Imishli appealed the decision to the AFFA Appeals Arbitration Tribunal (AAT). However, on October 31, the AAT upheld the original ruling of the Disciplinary Committee without any changes.
