The Universiade continues in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region.
According to special correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, today Azerbaijani athletes will compete in rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, and swimming.
In rhythmic gymnastics, two group finals will be held today. The team that won the gold medal in the all-around yesterday, consisting of Laman Alimuradova, Gullu Aghalarzade, Darya Sorokina, Kamilla Aliyeva, and Yelyzaveta Luzan, will compete for two more medals. The gymnasts will perform routines with five ribbons, as well as with three balls and two hoops.
The taekwondo athletes are also starting their competitions. Today, Khidir Mammadov (54 kg), Vagif Hajiyev (68 kg), Salima Guliyeva (46 kg), and Leyla Bashirova (57 kg) will join the fray.
In table tennis, the individual events are beginning. Nigar Mahmudova, Sabina Mammadova, Zemfira Mikayilova, Amin Orujzada, Nihad Samadzada, and Tural Mirzayev will play their opening matches.
Tennis player Kanan Gasimov will face American Trevor Joseph Svajda in the second round. Later, he will team up with Elvin Hashimov in the doubles competition to play against French duo William Jucha and Robinson Le Meur.
In swimming, Ramil Valizade and Abdurrahman Rustamov will compete in the 200-meter butterfly event, while Said Hamidov will swim the 200-meter backstroke.
