Azerbaijani athletes to compete in five sports at Islamic Solidarity Games today

At the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijani athletes will compete in five different sports today.

According to Idman.biz, swimmers Maryam Javadova, Abdurrahman Rustamov, Anastasia Boborikina, Egor Maynitskiy, Ramil Velizade, Vlastilina Khasyauova, Mehri Abdurrahmanli, and a mixed team of two boys and two girls will showcase their skills in the pool.

In table tennis, the Azerbaijani women’s national team will face Egypt in the semifinals. The judo team will meet Saudi Arabia in the quarterfinals.

Weightlifter Ravin Almammadov (79 kg) will begin his competition in the group stage.

Four Azerbaijani boxers will enter the ring for their final bouts today. Nargiz Zeynalova (54 kg) will fight Ayshen Taskin (Turkey), Seyidjamshid Jafarov (80 kg) will face Sultan Osmanli (Turkey), Aynur Mikayilova (57 kg) will take on Khumorabonu Mamajonova (Uzbekistan), and Mahammadali Gasimzade (60 kg) will meet Madiyar Daniyarov (Uzbekistan).

It should be noted that the Islamic Solidarity Games will conclude on November 21. So far, Azerbaijani athletes have won 17 medals (2 gold, 3 silver, and 12 bronze), placing the country sixth in the medal standings.
