Azerbaijan to face Slovakia in milestone match for several players

The Azerbaijani national football team will play against Slovakia today in the fourth round of the Nations League in Baku.

According to Idman.biz, this match will be especially memorable for two players due to significant career milestones.

If Badavi Huseynov, the player with the most experience on the current team, takes the field, it will mark his 75th appearance for the national team. With this achievement, he will join the ranks of Tarlan Ahmadov and Mahmud Gurbanov, becoming the seventh player in the history of the team to reach 75 caps. Only six players have played more matches.

Mahir Emreli is on the verge of his 50th appearance. If the striker, who has donned the national team jersey 49 times, plays today, he will hit the halfway mark to 100 appearances. He will become the 21st player in Azerbaijan's history to play 50 or more games for the national team.

Today's match could also be significant for other players under coach Fernando Santos. Three players - Aydın Bayramov, Zamig Aliyev, and Vadim Abdullayev - are waiting for their official debut with the national team.

Additionally, the match at the Republic Stadium, named after Tofig Bahramov, could be a special occasion for others. Elvin Jafarguliyev and Rahil Mammadov are both set to make their 25th appearance, while Rustam Ahmadzada and Ozan Can Kokcu are hoping for their 10th.

Furthermore, if Emin Mahmudov, who is currently tied as the national team's top scorer with 14 goals, manages to score again, he will surpass Gurban Gurbanov and become the sole leading scorer in Azerbaijan's history.
