“I think Qarabag will beat Ajax,” said former Turkish international Fatih Sonkaya, speaking ahead of the UEFA Champions League Group F match between Qarabag and Ajax in Baku.
The veteran defender, who played for Dutch clubs Roda and Venlo during his career, noted that Ajax is not in the best form at the moment.
“Qarabag has been performing excellently in recent games. Earning a point against Chelsea in Baku was magnificent. Even in Italy, they put up a worthy fight against Napoli despite losing. I watched both matches. You can’t say the same about Ajax; they haven’t even scored points. Football is full of surprises, and any result is possible. I wish Qarabag the best and really hope they win,” Sonkaya told AZERTAC.
Sonkaya earned six caps for the Turkish national team and has also played for Besiktas in Turkiye and Porto in Portugal.
The Qarabag vs Ajax match will take place on December 10 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium, starting at 21:45.
